First Defeat of the Season

Manchester United slumped to its first defeat of the season, in their only second game in the less-than-a-week old season. A first-half strike from Burnley's Robbie Blake and a missed penalty by Carrick were enough to record a probable Burnley's famous victory.

Tottenham Hostpurs continued their good start to the season by beating Hull City 5-1. Liverpool recorded their first win; a 4-0 win over Stoke City.

Tottenham Hotspurs now lead the table, while Manchester United now sits at the tenth place.
