Phenomenal Phelps!

Nothing is more appropriate to describe the swimming legend who won an unprecented eight gold medals at a single Olympics.

Michael Phelps won his eighth gold medal during the Team USA's victory in the 4x100m medley relay at the Water Cube in Beijing early this morning. It was more appropriate that he won in the eighth month of 2008.

Phelps overtook Mark Spitz's 36-year old record of seven gold medals at the Munich Games. His current haul of 14 Olympics gold medals makes him the most decorated Olympics gold medallist. At the age of 23, the Beijing Games may not be his last one yet and expect him to win more gold medals at the London Games in 2012.

The followings are the events that he won at the Beijing Games:

August 10 - 400 m individual medley - 4:03.84 (New World Record)
August 11 - 4 x 100 m freestyle relay - 3:08.24 (New World Record)
August 12 - 200 m freestyle - 1:42.96 (New World Record)
August 13 - 200 m butterfly - 1:52.03 (New World Record)
August 13 - 4 x 200 m freestyle relay - 6:58.56 (New World Record)
August 15 - 200 m individual medley - 1:54.23 (New World Record)
August 16 - 100 m butterfly - 50.58 (New Olympics Record)
August 17 - 4 x 100 m medley relay - 3:29.34 (New World Record)

Yayy!!! Phelps our Baltimore Hero! 20 world records were broken in that 1 week of swimming alone. Makes you think that it could be a new drug. No doubt these are some amazing swimmers, but I think it also has a lot to do with their Speedo LZR Racer suits. I'm gonna miss cheering for the men in Speedos!

is it true Speedo will give him $1M for getting 8 gold medals?

Cookie,
Yeah, many believed that the new slimline swimming suits had a lot to do with the improved times.

Anon,
Apparently according to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_phelps), it is true. The $1million bonus would probably be dwarved by the many endorsement deals that he surely will be offered now.
