Ho Chi Minh City - Cyclo Tour

On our last day in Ho Chi Minh City, my travelling companions and I decided to go on a Cyclo tour of Cholon. Cholon is the Chinese district in Ho Chi Minh City. As in many other cities around the world with their own Chinatown, Cholon is the Chinatown of Ho Chi Minh. To get around the city, it was recommended to take a cyclo, which was one of the types of cycle rickshaw. Initially, the cyclo ride would cost USD3 per hour per cyclo; we managed to get it down to USD2.50 per hour per cyclo, but in the end, we gave each cyclist USD5 as we realised how tiring it was to cycle around and they took the extra effort to become our tour guide in the temples. During the tour, we were taken to several Chinese Temples around the Cholon area. There was also a market, the Binh Tay Market, which became the central place in Cholon. Shops around Cholon are reportedly mostly owned by Chinese and most of them sell items in wholesale.

Here are some pictures during our tour of Cholon.

Use this to find your way around the Binh Tay Market.

The papers had the names of donors to the temple.

I liked this pictures, it looked as if the rays of light came from heaven.

These circular incense were hung from the ceilings.

Some very elaborate cravings on the roof of one of the Temples.
